Like many areas of Portland, Beaumont-Wilshire is an older, community-oriented paradise for those wanting to walk or bicycle. Beaumont is on the Alameda Ridge and residents have incredible views of downtown Portland and much of the city’s northeast section. It holds some of the most beautiful homes in Portland.
Wilshire lies between 42nd and 52nd and NE Fremont and NE Prescott. It too features beautiful older homes and tree-lined streets. An area-plus is the beautiful and historic 14-acre Wilshire Park.
The commercial area of Beaumont Village features a number of unique small businesses and lies between NE 33rd and NE 50th. Fremont is the area’s main thoroughfare.
Beaumont has a history dated just after the U.S. Civil War in 1866. It was part of the Rose City Park that was deeded to the widow of Joseph Backenstos by President Andrew Johnson.
